My child says scary things when overwhelmed. How seriously should I take it?

Take it seriously and calmly. You do not have to panic, but you also do not have to guess alone. Stay close, reduce immediate demands, ask simple direct questions, and contact a qualified professional or local crisis/emergency service if there is any risk of harm. A child saying frightening things is not attention-seeking to dismiss. It is a signal to increase support.

No advice, just solidarity — you're not alone in this.
