Do I tell them about my diagnosis? Navigating work + ADHD/autism

Diagnosed at 32. After ten years in corporate, I finally understand why every job felt like drowning.

Now the choice: do I tell my current employer and request accommodations, or keep masking and risk another burnout? People say 'be honest,' but I've also read a hundred stories of people getting fired or passed over after disclosing. In India, disability discrimination is illegal in theory.

If you've disclosed at work: did you stay at that company? What accommodations actually helped? Was it worth it, or do you regret it?

High-stakes, and there's no single right answer β€” disclosing and protecting yourself are both valid. One thing that helps: you can often request the change you need ('I do my best work with written briefs') without leading with a diagnosis. For those who disclosed in India β€” what did you test about the culture first?

I disclosed and it went fine β€” but only after I watched how my manager talked about other people's needs first. Test the culture before you trust it with your label.
