Diagnosis doesn't mean I failed — but why does it feel that way?

My kid got diagnosed last month. The first thing my mother-in-law said was 'where did we go wrong?' And then my own voice started up: where did I go wrong?

If you're wrestling with guilt right now — whether it's your diagnosis or your child's — you're not alone, and you're not broken.

This thread is for naming that guilt without letting it win. What's the story you're telling yourself about what this diagnosis says about you?

Thank you for naming this out loud. Notice the evidence in front of us: you're here, you're learning, you showed up the week after a hard diagnosis. That's already a different story than 'I failed.' What would you say to a friend in your exact position?

The MIL line nearly broke me too. It got quieter once I stopped trying to win the argument and just said 'this isn't about blame, it's about helping him.'
