How do you find a psych who actually gets it? (India)

I've called eight doctors. One said ADHD doesn't exist in girls. One wanted to medicate immediately. One told me to just 'parent better.' I'm exhausted and we're no closer to a diagnosis.

If you've found a good clinician — one who listens, doesn't pathologize, knows current diagnostic criteria — help a parent out: how did you find them? What should I ask to vet someone before booking? Red flags? And rough cost in your city?

Eight calls like that is genuinely demoralizing — I'm sorry. Let's build a city-by-city list of clinicians who do this well. A good assessment usually means: full history, more than a 15-minute chat, talks about strengths and challenges, and doesn't rush to a single label. What city are you in?

Vetting question that saved me: 'How do you assess in girls and women specifically?' A blank pause is your answer. Good ones light up and talk about masking.
