ADHD teen thrived in elementary (looser structure, play-based). Middle school (rigid, fast, complex social scene, abstract learning) = shutdown. They went from excited to 'I hate school' in one year.

Different developmental stage + different learning environment = disaster.

Teens can smell an agenda from three rooms away. Casual side-by-side conversations — car rides especially — worked far better for us than sit-downs.
