You don't owe anyone a debate about your child. These lines let you share what you choose to share and close the topic when it stops being useful.
Opening line
We've learned something about how [child] is wired, and it's helped us support them better. I'm telling you because you love them — not because I'm looking for opinions on it.
When you hear 'they'll grow out of it' or 'back in my day…'
I know it's new language. The support is what's changed things for us, and that's what I need backed up — not the diagnosis re-litigated.
Setting a boundary
I'm not going to keep defending this. You don't have to fully understand it to be kind about it. That part isn't optional.
Some relatives come around slowly, after they see your child thrive. You're allowed to protect your energy while they catch up.
