Grief done in isolation gets stuck. The single biggest predictor of moving through it well is whether you have somewhere honest to put it.

Three kinds of support that help

  • Professional — a counsellor who gets neurodivergence, even for a few sessions.
  • Peer — other parents who've been here and won't flinch at the hard days.
  • Practical — someone who'll take a task off your plate so you can breathe.

You don't need all three at once. One real connection can change the whole experience of the first year.

Asking for help isn't failing the test of parenthood. It's how the durable parents last the distance.
