A step-by-step pre-interview routine: extra time, role-play, research, and reading the room.

A repeatable routine takes the executive-function load off interview day, so your actual ability gets to show up.

The routine

  1. Research the company and role until you could explain them to a friend.
  2. Role-play your weak-spot questions out loud with someone.
  3. Set two or three concrete goals for what you want to convey.
  4. Build in extra time — arrive early enough to settle your nervous system.
  5. Pre-plan for problems: what you'll do if you blank or run late.

In the room

Watch nonverbal cues, but don't obsess — pick two things to track, not ten. Channel any nervous energy into the topic you know best.

Preparation converts anxiety into something you can spend. The goal is to walk in with fewer live decisions to make.
