One seasoned view: the default answer is often 'no' — not from shame, but from realism about how uneven awareness still is.
The cautionary logic
- Not every boss is informed or kind about ADHD.
- Behaviour they tolerated ('runs a little late') can harden once it has a label.
- You can't predict how it travels through an organisation.
When it tilts toward yes
A demonstrably supportive manager, a real need for formal accommodations, or a workplace with a track record of handling disclosure well.
This isn't a rule, it's a caution. Know your boss before you decide — the relationship matters more than the policy.
